Heading to a concert soon and wondering what to pack for a concert? Whether you're gearing up for an indoor show or preparing for an outdoor event, making sure you have the right essentials can make all the difference. This complete checklist will help you stay organized and ready for an unforgettable night!
What to Pack for a Concert: Your Essential Checklist

1. Concert Ticket
This may seem obvious, but different venues and ticket distributors have various ways of delivering tickets. Double-check which app you need to use to display your ticket and load it in advance in case you lose internet connection at the venue. Some distributors, like Eventim, send physical tickets, so be sure to bring yours if that’s the case.
2. Wallet, ID & Cash
Let’s continue with the essentials—your ID and a small amount of cash. While most venues accept card or mobile payments, some, like Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, only take cash at certain food and drink stands. Be sure to check in advance if contactless payment is an option.
3. Charged Power Bank & Mobile Battery
You'll likely use your phone a lot—especially if you're queuing for hours, taking concert videos, and then still need to check maps or transportation to get home. A fully charged power bank is essential to keep your phone powered throughout the event.
4. Crossbody Phone Strap
This is a recent discovery for me, and I can confidently say it’s a game-changer. A crossbody phone strap allows you to easily grab your phone when needed without constantly holding it or digging through your bag. Just be mindful of it, but in my experience, it made the concert experience much easier—especially when filming videos.
5. Raincoat (for Outdoor Concerts)
If you’re attending an outdoor concert and rain is in the forecast, bring a small, reusable plastic raincoat. It’s compact and offers great protection. Most venues don’t allow umbrellas (or only permit small ones), and using one would block the view for others—so a raincoat is the best alternative.
6. Cosmetics: Lip Gloss, Lipstick, Sunscreen
Pack light, but a few essentials can be helpful. For outdoor concerts, sunscreen is a must. I also bring lipstick or compact powder to touch up my makeup if needed. Be careful that your cosmetics don’t get damaged if your bag is squished in the crowd or exposed to heat for too long.
7. Hand Sanitizer
A must-have! Always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer to keep your hands clean, especially when using public restrooms or eating at the venue.
8. Napkins or Wet Wipes
You never know when you’ll need these! For example, at the Eras Tour in Volksparkstadion, we found our seats covered in pigeon poo. Luckily, some kind neighbors had napkins to help us clean up. Plus, bathrooms can sometimes run out of toilet paper, so napkins or wet wipes are a must.
9. Empty Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is essential, especially if you're attending a long concert or festival. Bring an empty water bottle to refill at water stations. Many venues allow you to bring one, and it can save you from having to buy expensive bottled water. Just make sure to check the venue’s regulations regarding this item.
10. Earplugs
Some people prefer using earplugs at concerts to protect their hearing or reduce noise sensitivity. If you’re one of them, don’t forget to pack a pair!
With this checklist, you’ll be fully prepared for an unforgettable concert experience! Is there anything else you always pack for a show? Let me know in the comments!
