On 11th of June, 2024, I went to see Green Day during their The Saviors Tour EU/UK Tour in Hamburg. Keep reading to find out all the details about the concert!
Tickets
General admission, because in the time we got them, fan zone was already sold out.
Timeline
4pm - Doors
5:50pm - arriving to the venue
6pm - official start time in the ticket
6:30pm - opening band 'Donots'
7:50pm - Green Day
10:10pm - The End
The venue
Green Day performed in Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld - normally horse racecourse. It was my first time here, its basically huge open air spot.
It’s definitely more difficult to get here than other Hamburg venues like stadium or arena, as there is no near by train connection. And that means that, traffic before and especially concert is crazy. We took an uber to go to the venue, but it was quite a mistake as again, we were stucked in traffic, what was suppose to be 15mins drive ended up taking around 40mins.
I would recommend walking to the train station, than relying on the busses or even worse arriving by car. To go back I walked to Bahrenfeld S-Bahn station and too kthe train from there back to Altona.
The view
Here is our view arriving 10 minutes before the official start. We had general admission tickets cause in the time we got them, fan zone was already sold out. In general dedicated fan zone was huge. So even if we were close to the GA barricade, it was still quite far away from the stage.
And thats why kids, I would always recommend getting fan zone tickets if possible.

The performance
About the concert itself - it was amazing! The band kept high energy for throughout the whole show that lasted almost 2,5hours (and they’re in their fifties, so major respect 👌🏻). They played 'Dookie' and 'American Idiot' in full, plus some songs from the new album and of course classics like 'Good Riddance.' 36 songs in total! It was really a nonstop show.
However, one thing that I noticed that was almost no interaction with the public, Joe was shouting ''put your hands in the air'', ''Let's go crazyyy!'', but basically thats it.
Technicalities
However. I was a bit surprised by the screens. There were two of them but they were really small (check them in comparison with the stage). In such a big open area, without any slope, and 60-70k people standing to see the band, it would be nice to hang big screens. That felt very 2005 but maybe that was the point 😅
European Summer
The beauty of open air concerts in Europe during summer that it's forever daylight 🫠which doesn't complement all the staging, lights and effects from the concert. You can see in the photo how light it was by the end of the concert, and it was already 10:10pm.

The Outfit
And here comes the big reveal, I wore Blink 182 Tour t-shirts to Green Day concert. Sue me!
In general, I was always team Blink 182, I grew up with their music, and was literally obsessed with this band. I also liked Green Day, but my heart will always stay with Tom, Mark and Travis.
